Teen depression should not not be taken lightly because it is a serious condition. In this century, teens usually don't know what depression is anymore. Depression is when a person is upset for over a period of time when they are often undue pressure to excel in school, sports, and social circles. Most teens usually say they're " depressed " when they lose something that's not really important at all. For example, they would post on Facebook that they're " depressed " because they got dumped by the ones they like or they lose something that's really unimportant. Real depression is when someone loses someone that was very close to them like their family members.
Teens may show that depression isn't such a serious of how they act to it. They aren't really depressed, they're just really upset with something that feels like they're depressed when they're not. When a teen starts doing it, another teen follows them, and so on the society will follow it. Most teens don't really understand what depression is when they come to a relation of it. Society should know what the difference is between depression and being disappointed. Depression shouldn't be something society should take lightly. When someone is actually depressed, others wouldn't be able to notice what real depression is.

Of all these children and teens struggling with emotional and behavioral problems, a mere 30% receive any sort of intervention or treatment. The other 70% simply struggle through pain of mental illness or emotional turmoil, doing their best to make it to adulthood. People should help others that are in need because of this serious problem.
